‘The IMDb of Cookbooks’

“We didn’t quite expect how complex the publishing industry is. It’s set in its ways and there are lots of moving parts,” says Jamin Galea, co-founder of Books About Food. Alongside the Instagram account, a Books About Food website recently launched. The idea is to showcase books about food – yes, the clue is in the name – and the people involved in making them. Already some people are calling it “the IMDb of cookbooks”.

“It’s been amazing to immerse ourselves further into the cookbook community, which has been so welcoming. Because this is a passion project for me and Sam [Garson, the other co-founder], and not our full-time job, we’ve been able to follow our noses and have fun exploring what’s possible to bring to this industry using our design and tech experience. We have built a lot of trust between us and share a brain on a lot of things, which makes it easy.”
