Meet the Accountant, Investment Banker – and Viral YouTuber

Nischa the Investment Banker

Nischa is a British accountant and investment banker – not exactly the kind of content that blows up on social. And yet she has nearly 1 million subscribers…

How did you decide to quit your job in finance?

In 2023, my YouTube channel unexpectedly exploded. Gaining 10,000 subscribers a day, I was no longer able to give my passion project the focus it needed while maintaining a senior role at an investment bank in London. I had reached a fork in the road:

Option 1: Continue this corporate career conveyor belt that I had jumped onto when I was 21.

Option 2: For the first time in my life, deviate from the tried-and-true blueprint of success and go all in on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I chose option 2second and jumped out of the plane with 9nine months of savings as my parachute. I bid farewell to my annual bonuses and regular salary, got on the London Underground with boxes of all my stuff, and haven’t looked back since.

What’s the guiding vision behind your brand?

I’m on a mission to help people take control of their finances and, ultimately, their lives by teaching them about money and mindset. I want to help as many people as I can reach financial freedom – at any income level.

How has social media helped your career?

Social media has become the backbone of my business, and I wouldn't be where I am now without it. Sure, anyone can jump onto TikTok and give money advice, but not everyone can claim they are a qualified accountant with 9nine years of experience in investment banking! I truly believe everyone has their own unfair advantage. It’s just about finding what gives you a head start and makes you hard to ignore.

Where do you get inspiration from for your videos?

Real-life conversations. The other day, I was at dinner with friends from university. The conversation steered towards whether it is better to buy or rent a house (the classic debate among 30-year-olds living in London!). With completely opposing but valid views on both sides, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a video on the topic. Creating valuable content means understanding the real problems that real people have, and then packaging the answer in a way that’s fun and engaging.
