What Does an Ideal Job Mean to You?

Snake Denton is a model, presenter and journalist for the likes of The Face magazine. He committed the first few months of the year to writing his first novel, about football.

The ideal job is the one that requires you to work as little as possible for the fattest pay-check. Modelling is a good start. Before I die, I’d also like to try landlording and maybe a seat in the House of Lords.

Abby Lee is the founder and head chef of Mambow, a restaurant in Clapton serving her native Malaysian cuisine.

My ideal job would be flexible and forever evolving. I like problem solving as well so it would need to have an element of this to keep me on my toes. I don’t think I could handle a desk job, my mind would erupt! It would need to involve creating with my hands and, hopefully, I could do something that impacts other people’s lives, even just for a moment.

Eliza Lawrence has done many jobs in her 27 years. She’s been an actor, teacher and sex therapist. She’s also the founder of Wasitgoodforyou, a platform dedicated to sex and love.

I search for a job where the separation between life and work is not vast, so that I don’t drag my feet and wish to be home to get on with my life, and instead feel like I am living there. I crave to not get the Sunday blues and instead want to be excited to go in or start.

David Chen runs DVD Studio, builds speakers and DJs for Kindred radio. He also happens to be a design student at Imperial College London looking for an internship that spans design, culture and creative technology.

An ideal job for me consists of working on projects that are impactful, meaningful and relevant. It should not constrain - it should offer creative freedom to design around a variety of factors and disciplines. And for the present moment, a job that can educate me on forming ideas that work at scale – but constantly learning, whether through experiences, or through those around me.

Efos Uwubamwen started working as a junior doctor during the pandemic. Alongside working in public health, modelling in campaigns for the likes of Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein, he is currently building Wellvrse, a virtual reality mental wellbeing company:

The ideal job to me means creating real impact by helping people, nurturing creativity and having the freedom to infuse my personality and unique interests into tasks.
